Every doctors appointment has gone great.
We have only had 2 ultrasounds to see the baby. One was to confirm that I am pregnant and the other was to check in on baby's organs and confirm the gender. I asked Dr. Johnston if we would get to see the baby again before delivery, to check in on levels and the babys size, but the doctor said that he would rather not unless I show signs of emergency or a reason to do another one. So I guess we will have so many surprises on delivery day!
During the second ultrasound, baby had great results on the organs and heartbeat. The best part about that appointment was to learn that we are having a BOY! We are both through the roof with happiness and excitement.
Baby boy has been head down for a long while now. He was measuring a week smaller than he should for a month or so, but he caught up quickly! I really haven't gained much weight during this pregnancy.. ;) .. YET. The nurse actually told me several appointments that I lost a few pounds here and there..
I never had morning sickness, but I'm not out of the woods yet! I haven't experienced any feet or ankle swelling. I am more uncomfortable getting comfortable at night to go to sleep. I also have a hard time sitting for very long in a seated position.
One of the appointments I had to be tested for sugar issues and diabetes. Luckily, all was well with it and I do not have any problems there, but I am on the anemic side so I have been taking Iron pills for a while to help with it.
Another appointment I had to have my blood tested to make sure that we wouldn't have a problem with my blood and the baby's blood matching up. All is well there too!
My last appointment the doctor tested for GSB, which is just a harmless (to me, but not so much for baby) bacteria that can be found in the vagina and/or rectum. I tested negative for it, so no worries! If I would have had it, they would just give me antibiotics during labor to keep it at bay while baby made an entrance to the world, so that it wouldn't cause problems for him.
I have gained a total of 13 pounds as of my 37 week appointment! I'm sure it's more now, since the Winter Holidays just past!
Also at our last appointment, the doctor told us that our next appointment will be January 5th, and that if I am dilated to a certain point yet that we will have the option to head to the hospital and induce labor. If not we aren't due for another week after the 5th. Our due date has continuously been January 12th, so it's not a huge deal, but it's getting seemingly bigger to me! LOL.
I have had two stretch marks on my right hip. They have gotten a bit longer and wider. :/... Then in the past month I've gained a light one on my left hip, and about 4-6 across my belly right under my bellybutton area. -_- But it's part of it and I try not to let it get to me. My belly button concerns me more on the topic of stretched and gross. I had my belly button pierced with I was a teen... Like always, it was a HUGE mistake. As my belly has rounded out, my button has also stretched and changed around. The piercing holes on both top and bottom are not visible,... ON TOP of my belly. It's crazy!
I had about 4 serious migranes that really scared me. But I was told by another girl that just had twins to drink a cup of Coke Cola when I felt one coming one, worked like magic! No more have occurred. I had heartburn and indigestion quite a bit in the middle of the pregnancy. But I just took Zantac or ate some vanilla ice cream and it was usually soothed. My skin has flipped back and forth between super oily and super dry. It has a mind of it's own, and I've learned to just roll with it.
I have been peeing a lot more this past, ohhhh, 3 weeks or so. It's lovely. Actually, since there is no shame in the motherhood game, my husband has made me laugh so hard twice that I have peed my pants. Embarrassing? Only for the moment of admitting it. Funny? Hell yes, it's not as big of a deal as I would have thought.
That about sums up all of the details thus far.
** I know that I revealed here that we are having a boy, but no talk of name. It's a surprise upon baby boy's arrival. :D **
I'm nervous and excited. As long as I have God and my husband, all I need next is my son in my arms. <3
